Taliban at Yale

I think the fact that Yale has a former Taliban spokesperson as a freshman has received a lot of blathering from the right wing blogosphere. The article in the NY Times is worth reading, though, about his journey from Afghanistan, as part of the Taliban, and adjusting to Yale. Not your normal overachiever or legacy silver spooner from Andover.

Rahmatullah's story is quite a contrast to Frank Lindh's story about his son John. One was raised as a Muslim in poverty and misery, worked for and became the public symbol for the Taliban, and is now at Yale. One started in the indulgent upper middle class of Marin county north of SF, converted to a Muslim, worked for the Taliban and became the public symbol for a post-9/11 world, and is in jail.
