Extreme Blogging

Cyber-Catharsis: Bloggers Use Web Sites as TherapyI thought this might be of interest on the 1 year B-Day of our Blogg. Fortunately for all of us we don't need or use it for these purposes. An occasional post with sports or politics seem a little edgy at times on the Harris blogg, this stuff is over the top.

I considered for quite a while adding a subtitle to the blog name: The Cure for the Dysfunctional Family. I decided, however, that the no-politics rule left enough dysfunction in that we weren't cured, even if we were communicating better. Personally, I like talking about politics and miss the days when people used to be able to have civil conversations on the topic without feeling like the person on the other side was a moron or evil. Alas, those days seem to be gone, not just within our family. Plus, EMail or blogging is a pretty poor medium for anything contentious. There just aren't enough emoticons to deal with the subtlety that's required to have a testy conversation and still come out liking each other.

Note that I turned off the ability for anyone to post comments. Why anyone would be interested is beyond me, but more than that, I don't really care what they think anyway. How's that for dysfunctional.
