I just went from mildly concerned to scared. Just kidding but your comments were very helpfull and have given me good info on how to conduct myself. I always suspected that Nigerian royal who keeps mailing me about his lost fortune. The link you sent was interesting and quite an eye-opener correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't it be easier to get a job than go thru all that to steal. Now go mow the lower 40.

Yeah, the Nigerian bank scam has been around since before the Internet. I read a fascinating nonfiction book once called The Informant, by Kurt Eichenwald. It's about price fixing by Archer Daniels Midland (sounds exciting, eh), and the main character is an ADM executive who decides to become an FBI informant. Amazingly enough, one of the reasons the guy started getting into price fixing and setting up shell corporations to hide the profits going into his pockets (something our friends at Enron brought to a fine art) was because he got suckered into that Nigerian bank scam. Whenever I think about people feeling like the unfettered free market is the answer to all problems, I remember this book.
The great thing about these scams is that with EMail, these guys only have to fool one person in hundreds of thousands, and they never even had to knock on a door or sweet talk a little old person.
