Playing "Apples to Apples" at Thanksgiving. This is a simple but very fun game for a large group.

It's a game you have to buy. There are two sets of cards. One set is a huge number of categories: Boring, Luscious, Loud, etc. The other set is an even larger set of what the players match with the category: Sinatra, Democrats, Dogs, Oprah, etc. Each player has seven of the match cards. Every turn one category card is turned over from the deck, and each player lays down one card to "match" it, face down, and picks another up for the next round. The judge, which rotates between players with each play, chooses the best match with the category. The object is to have the most of your cards chosen as the match. The cards you choose to match with the category are revealing or funny depending on the person playing, and you try to anticipate what kind of thing the judge will pick. Personally, Luscious and Democrats seems like a good match to me, but we've decided to stay out of the politics on the blog, so I won't mention it.
