Happy Birthday Mike

As I was with most other family members let me be one of the last to wish you a happy birthday. You guys look great in that picture. I'm glad to hear school is going well for missy I havn't heard anyone cry about a B+ since steve dropped the ball in 7th grade music class. Your acheivments are admirable and your GPA is still a great sidenote to your whole effort Great Job. This week I feel a little more threatened by Jamal Lewis than W considering he is one of my roto opponets this week. No matter what Im glad your choice of gifts make Mike happy even though steve doesn't seem to agree. I think "that little gem" clears up any doubt about his feelings. Mom please heed his warning not to click. Steve I did get a few laughs out of that, Delightfully tacky. Hunting season is here and I havn't spent much time in the woods yet. But Im planning to make up for that in the next couple of weeks. Hunting is way overated as a sport or even personal challenge but it is way underated as a method of grocery shopping. Just a thought for any antis lurking on the blog.

Well, I'm glad you guys can take a joke :). Regarding hunting, I have fond memories of stomping around in the woods. As John Prine put it: "The air smelled like snakes, and we'd shoot with out pistols, but empty pop bottles was all we would kill." And let's not forget the memory of that poor headless mud hen killed so stealthily by Keith "Mud Hen" Harris. Anyway, in case anyone cares, I'm all for hunting, but it lost out a long while ago in terms of anything I personally want to go do. I really enjoyed Randy and Brent Beatty's description of hunting from the back of a jeep using AK47's in Uzbekistan (or one of those stans). Now fly fishing would be another story -- why is it that shoving a hook down the throat of a fish and then hacking its head off is somehow more appealing to me than hunting is something I am not sure of. Unfortunately, I live in a place where fly fishing would be like snowboarding. I can get to it, but it's a chore. And my attempts to enlist Dara in the belief that it's a spectator sport have all been for naught. Alas, my first attempt was my last. One day, though.
